DTI CITES WHOLESALE, RETAIL GROWTH BEHIND 9% REGISTRATION JUMP


Business name registrations with the DTI rose nearly 9 percent to 769,623 in the first seven months of the year, driven mainly by wholesale and retail businesses.

New registrations accounted for 656,102 filings, while renewals reached 113,521.

Wholesale and retail led all sectors with 55 percent of registrations, followed by accommodation and food services and real estate.

Calabarzon recorded the most registrations, followed by Central Luzon and Metro Manila.

However, July registrations fell 15 percent year-on-year, with 60 percent of the seven-month total coming from women-led businesses.
