The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) lowered the passenger fuel surcharge to Level 12 for Aug. 16 to 31, from Level 13 in the first half of the month.
The new surcharge ranges from PHP389 to PHP1,137 for domestic flights and PHP1,284.40 to PHP9,550.13 for international flights.
The reduction comes as jet fuel prices eased from their recent peak, although prices remain significantly higher than last year.
Airlines use the surcharge to recover higher fuel costs, which have increased operating expenses.
Despite the lower surcharge, the International Air Transport Association expects fuel to account for nearly a third of airline operating costs this year.
