TEODORO CITES JAPAN’S SUPPORT IN PH DEFENSE BUILDUP

Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. recognized Japan’s contributions to strengthening the Philippines’ defense and security ties as both countries deepen cooperation in the Indo-Pacific.

Teodoro made the remarks during a farewell meeting with outgoing Japanese Ambassador Endo Kazuya on Aug. 11 in Manila.

He cited key agreements, including the Reciprocal Access Agreement and Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement, as well as ongoing talks for a Security Information Agreement.

Teodoro also highlighted Japan’s Official Security Assistance, including the delivery of five coastal radars to boost the Philippines’ maritime monitoring capabilities.

For his contributions to bilateral defense cooperation, Endo received the Outstanding Achievement Medal from Teodoro.
