The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that “Caloy” has weakened into a tropical depression after entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of its latest monitoring, it was located about 680 kilometers east of Surigao City, moving westward at 15 kilometers per hour with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph and gusts of up to 55 kph.
PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda said the system is not expected to make landfall or directly affect the country.
However, its trough may bring scattered rains over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.
The agency is also tracking a separate low-pressure area far east of Northeastern Mindanao, which is unlikely to develop into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.
