Vice President Sara Duterte condemned the killing of Digos City barangay captain Oscar “Dodong” Bucol Jr., who was shot during a Facebook Live on Tuesday night.
She vowed to protect the rights of all Filipinos to speak out and criticize government wrongdoing.
Bucol, known for his outspoken critiques of local officials, was rushed to the hospital but later pronounced dead.
Davao del Sur officials and Duterte reportedly offered a combined P2 million reward for information leading to his killers and the mastermind behind the attack.
The vice president emphasized honoring Bucol’s memory by upholding the freedoms that allow citizens to question and participate without fear.
