Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. filed a motion to quash the malversation charge against him before the Sandiganbayan, arguing he had no custody or control of the allegedly misappropriated P92.8 million flood control funds in Bulacan.
The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division deferred Revilla’s arraignment and pre-trial to February 9 to review his defense, which claims the information fails to show a common criminal design or express conspiracy.
Sworn testimonies from former DPWH officials allege that Revilla received kickbacks from project funds, with amounts totaling hundreds of millions linked to 2024 and 2025 allocations and his senatorial campaign.
Revilla’s co-accused, including engineers and a cashier, also filed motions to quash, arguing their acts were part of official duties, while only one co-accused has entered a not guilty plea so far.
Pending the court’s decision, Revilla and four male co-accused remain detained at New Quezon City Jail, while two female co-accused are held at Camp Karingal, and a separate motion seeks to transfer Revilla to Camp Crame for security reasons.
