BONG REVILLA FREED FROM QUEZON CITY JAIL AFTER BAIL APPROVAL BY SANDIGANBAYAN

Former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was released from the Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory on Friday, July 31, after posting a P1-million cash bond following the Sandiganbayan Third Division’s grant of his bail petition.

The anti-graft court ruled that the prosecution failed to establish that the evidence of his guilt was strong in the malversation through falsification of public documents case involving a P92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

Revilla had been detained since January over allegations that the project was implemented on an empty lot with no physical structure.

The Sandiganbayan denied the bail petitions of Revilla’s co-accused, citing strong evidence against them in the malversation charge.

Despite his release on bail, the criminal case against Revilla and his co-accused will continue.
