The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has released its price guide for school supplies ahead of the June 8 opening of classes, showing that only 10% of 210 stock-keeping units recorded price increases.
It said most of the affected items were writing materials, with only minimal adjustments compared to last year, while about 18% of items, such as notebooks, pad paper, crayons, and rulers, posted price reductions of ₱1 to ₱27.
More than half of the listed products, including pencils, ballpens, erasers, and sharpeners, maintained their previous prices.
The DTI also added 41 new items to its updated list to give consumers more options, while noting that school supplies remain sufficient and generally affordable nationwide.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the stable and lower prices reflect government efforts to ease the financial burden on families, as the agency continues monitoring compliance under the Price Act.
