The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates are set to sign a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to strengthen bilateral ties and create new economic opportunities.
The announcement was made by UAE Ambassador Mohamed Alqataam Alzaabi and DFA Undersecretary Ma. Theresa De Vega during the UAE National Day celebration in Makati City.
Both officials emphasized that the agreement will provide significant benefits in trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
They highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two countries, established in 1974, and recent high-level visits, including that of President Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos to the UAE.
The UAE ambassador also underscored his country’s achievements in human development, sustainability, renewable energy, and innovation as areas from which the Philippines can learn.
