The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has prepared an initial P1.2 billion fund to support vulnerable workers following the declaration of a national energy emergency under Executive Order 110.
The funds will be channeled through DOLE’s TUPAD and Integrated Livelihood programs, targeting displaced workers and transport employees affected by rising energy costs.
DOLE is coordinating with other agencies, including the Departments of Transportation, Social Welfare, and Migrant Workers, to provide emergency employment, skills training, livelihood support, and reintegration services for repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
Over 2,910 OFWs affected by the Middle East crisis have been repatriated, with the latest flight bringing home 349 individuals, including workers and dependents.
Meanwhile, gaps in transport network companies’ driver lists delayed cash relief distribution, but special payouts are being arranged to ensure all eligible public utility vehicle drivers receive assistance.
