The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) paid P15.8 billion for pneumonia in 2025, making it the top medical condition reimbursed by the agency.
A total of 637,526 claims were processed for community-acquired pneumonia III throughout the year.
Other major payouts included P3.9 billion for dengue, P3 billion for acute gastroenteritis, P2.5 billion for urinary tract infections, and P1.4 billion for other acute gastritis cases.
Overall, PhilHealth disbursed P300.45 billion in medical claims last year, a significant 81.7% increase from P165.34 billion in 2024.
The data reflects rising healthcare utilization and the growing financial support provided by the government’s health insurance program.
