The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) assured the public that all 44 commercial airports have sufficient diesel reserves to maintain backup power in case of outages.
Spokesperson Eric Apolonio said the reserves are rarely used but are fully ready amid concerns of a nationwide fuel shortage from Middle East tensions.
Airlines reportedly have enough fuel for current domestic and international operations, though some may reduce flights by late April or early May due to rising fuel surcharges.
Philippine Airlines confirmed it has secured sufficient fuel to continue operations, while Cebu Pacific recently canceled or limited some overseas flights because of higher fuel costs.
CAAP emphasized that airport backup systems remain fully operational to ensure safety and continuity of air travel.
