The Philippines will resume imports of canned pork products after the Department of Agriculture lifted a temporary ban imposed over African swine fever (ASF) concerns.
The DA said imports will only be allowed if the products are industrially manufactured, hermetically sealed, and heat-treated at least 70°C for 30 minutes to eliminate ASF risks.
The ban, first imposed in 2018, comes as ASF continues to affect hog production nationwide.
The DA also lifted its temporary ban on domestic and wild bird imports from Japan after the country was declared free of highly pathogenic avian influenza.
Officials said the move will restore poultry supply channels while maintaining safeguards for the local livestock and poultry industries.
