Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sought clarification from French and Czech officials over the release of former congressman Zaldy Co, expressing concern that the fugitive remains at large in Europe despite Philippine efforts to have him returned.
During separate meetings with the French and Czech envoys, Marcos asked for details on why Co was released from custody and reiterated that he must be brought back to face charges in the Philippines.
The Palace said Co is linked to a flood control scandal and has a standing case with a cancelled passport.
Marcos stressed the need for stronger international cooperation to ensure fugitives are held accountable and returned to their countries.
Despite the issue, he affirmed that relations with France and the Czech Republic remain strong and are based on shared respect for the rule of law.
