President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla to bring fugitive former lawmaker Zaldy Co back to the Philippines “at all costs.”
Remulla said he plans to travel to France to pursue an Interpol Red Notice against Co, who is reportedly seeking asylum there.
He said authorities know Co’s location and will contact him only after he is arrested, adding that he has had no communication with the former lawmaker.
Meanwhile, Kalookan Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David criticized Remulla for publicly announcing his plans, saying such information could compromise the manhunt.
Co faces two malversation cases before the Sandiganbayan, while the Ombudsman has also raised concerns about providing sanctuary to individuals facing criminal cases or investigations in the Philippines.
