A “highly regarded diplomatic source,” as cited by Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Ma. Theresa Lazaro, said fugitive former Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Zaldy Co is reportedly in Paris, France.
Lazaro said the Philippine embassy is closely monitoring the information, but the government has not confirmed any physical sighting of Co in the country.
She also noted that Malacañang has confirmed Co is seeking political asylum in France, while stressing that the matter is sensitive under European Union rules.
The DFA clarified that Co’s expired passport is no longer valid for travel and said authorities are still verifying reports, including claims of multiple passports and his movements in Europe.
Officials added that Philippine agencies continue to coordinate as investigations and legal processes regarding Co proceed.
