The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) warned individuals against faking disabilities to gain priority access to public services, calling it a violation of the law.
The statement came after a TikTok user posed as a person with disability to use the priority lane in LRT Line 1.
DSWD stressed that such actions are unethical, disrespectful, and undermine efforts to create an inclusive society.
The agency cited Republic Act No. 7277, which guarantees safe and barrier-free access for PWDs and mandates reasonable accommodations in public spaces.
DSWD urged the public to respect the law and ensure priority access is reserved for PWDs and other vulnerable groups.
