The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it has taken corrective measures after the Commission on Audit (COA) flagged problems in the storage of prepositioned relief goods.
COA reported pest infestations affecting ₱106.93 million worth of relief supplies in Northern Mindanao, along with storage and inventory monitoring lapses in other regions.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the agency is strengthening warehouse inspections, spot-checks, and inventory monitoring to prevent damage and loss.
The agency is also finalizing a Warehouse Inventory Management System for real-time tracking of food packs and other supplies.
DSWD said it has also coordinated with local governments and started procuring food-grade pest control services to improve storage conditions.
