The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has ordered a reduction in Passenger Service Charges and airport navigation fees at all airports operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).
The move aims to help airlines cope with soaring jet fuel costs, which have doubled from $90.87 per barrel in February to $188.2 in March due to Middle East tensions.
Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez said the measure is part of efforts to lower airline operating costs.
CAAP operates around 30 airports nationwide, including major hubs like Davao, Zamboanga, and Laoag.
The reduction comes as Filipinos face rising fuel prices, and analysts warn of possible higher inflation and power challenges.
