The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reminded parents and guardians to secure travel clearance for minors traveling abroad without a parent to avoid departure delays.
The reminder followed a viral report of a five-year-old girl who was denied boarding for lacking the required permit.
DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said the requirement aims to protect children from trafficking, abuse, and exploitation.
Applications can be submitted online through the Minors Traveling Abroad portal or the eGovPH app, with online interviews also available.
The agency also issues certificates of exemption for minors who qualify under specific circumstances.
