The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has not yet received reports of displaced workers from Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs), now referred to as Internet Gaming Licensees (IGLs).
Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma stated that the DOLE-NCR is closely monitoring the situation, particularly in the National Capital Region where most IGLs are located.
DOLE has profiled around 20,000 POGO workers, mainly skilled in administration, finance, human resources, and encoding, and is coordinating with companies to identify those who might be affected by the closures expected by year-end.
Laguesma encouraged displaced workers to use PhilJobNet for job opportunities and highlighted ongoing efforts to provide assistance, including employment facilitation and upskilling programs.
This follows President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s announcement of a total ban on POGOs, set to take effect by the end of the year.
