The Commission on Elections (Comelec) plans to start printing ballots for the 2025 elections by the second week of December, according to Chairman George Garcia.
This timeline aligns with the October 1-8 filing period for certificates of candidacy, after which substitution is only allowed in cases of death or disqualification.
Comelec has committed to resolving all nuisance candidate cases by November 30 to prevent them from appearing on the ballot.
Garcia mentioned potential challenges, such as court-issued temporary restraining orders that could disrupt the printing process if candidates contest Comelec’s decisions.
The ballots will have unique features, including secret markings and precinct-specific details, ensuring they are compatible only with designated vote-counting machines.
