Education Secretary Sonny Angara and House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos led the mass oath-taking of 789 public school teachers in Ilocos Norte on Friday, whose careers were upgraded under DepEd’s Expanded Career Progression (ECP) system.
The program is part of President Marcos’ education agenda and aims to deliver up to 100,000 teacher career upgrades nationwide by 2026, recognizing years of service that were often delayed due to limited plantilla items.
The ceremony was held alongside the administration’s PBBM-GABAY ng Bayan initiative, which integrates DepEd, CHED, and TESDA programs to strengthen education across the country.
The ECP reform allows teachers to advance professionally without leaving the classroom, rewarding experience and instructional excellence, with educators like Teacher Lilliane Tarriga promoted to Teacher IV after 37 years.
Over 2,000 more teachers in Ilocos are currently undergoing promotion processing, signaling a broader push to enhance teacher welfare, professional growth, and instructional quality nationwide.
