The Department of Education (DepEd) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said P31.22 billion is available to fill 64,530 public school teaching positions in 2027, contrary to reports of zero funding.
The positions include 31,614 existing vacancies and 32,916 newly created posts approved by DBM in May 2026. DepEd said the positions remain available for hiring as qualified applicants are selected.
The agencies clarified that the proposed budget does not include another batch of new Teacher I positions.
They said the funding is based on official personnel data used during the 2027 budget preparation.
