The Office of the Ombudsman’s Field Investigation Bureau has recommended the filing of plunder and bribery charges against Sen. Rodante Marcoleta over alleged ₱75-million campaign donations.
Investigators said Marcoleta and several others may be liable for plunder, indirect bribery, and violations of laws prohibiting public officials from receiving gifts after he allegedly failed to properly disclose the donations.
The complaint stemmed from a Commission on Elections probe in which Marcoleta admitted receiving three separate donations totaling ₱75 million for his 2025 senatorial campaign.
Authorities said the amount exceeds the ₱50-million threshold for plunder and was not reflected in his required financial disclosures.
The Ombudsman has ordered the respondents to submit counter-affidavits as the preliminary investigation continues.
