Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia has urged the PNP and AFP to immediately identify and prosecute those behind the ambush of BARMM Interim Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua’s convoy.
Garcia said authorities should also determine whether the attack was election-related.
The ambush occurred along the General Santos-Cotabato National Highway in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, according to police.
The motive, casualties, and extent of damage remain unclear as authorities continue their investigation.
Garcia stressed the need to maintain peace and order while respecting constitutional rights and the rule of law.
