Camille Villar pushed for stronger renewable and circular energy solutions as she joined the launch of a biomass facility by Nestlé Philippines in Cabuyao, Laguna.
She said sustainable energy and food systems are crucial amid global uncertainty and climate challenges affecting fuel supply and availability.
Villar commended the facility’s use of agricultural waste to produce clean energy, saying it supports both environmental goals and farmers’ livelihoods.
She also stressed the need to strengthen policies on renewable energy and resource efficiency to build a more climate-resilient economy.
The senator expressed support for private sector-led sustainability initiatives that align with national goals. Nestlé Philippines said the biomass project is part of its plan to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and promote energy security in the country.
