Sen. Camille Villar visited earthquake-affected communities in General Santos City on Saturday to distribute relief assistance and express support for families displaced by the recent magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao.
Accompanied by Sen. Robin Padilla and local officials, Villar led the distribution of rice, groceries, and drinking water at evacuation centers in Barangay Lagao, assuring residents of continued assistance during recovery efforts.
She emphasized that government support should extend beyond emergency relief to include long-term rehabilitation and rebuilding programs for affected communities.
Villar and Padilla also paid tribute to Joey Puntual Deluvio, a worker who died while attempting to rescue a trapped colleague during the earthquake.
Calling his sacrifice an example of courage and compassion, Villar pledged to continue coordinating with local and national authorities to sustain aid and recovery initiatives in the coming weeks.
