Paolo Marcoleta was misgendered during a House Committee on Justice impeachment hearing on Vice President Sara Duterte, prompting a brief exchange correcting the error.
While later delivering a manifestation, Marcoleta drew further attention after mistakenly attributing a famous film quote to the wrong Filipino movie character.
The confusion arose when he cited a line he believed came from “Popoy,” but was later corrected by lawmakers who pointed out it was from actor Piolo Pascual in the film Starting Over Again.
Lawmakers clarified that the quote is not from the “Popoy and Basha” characters of One More Chance.
The exchange added an unexpected pop-culture moment to the impeachment proceedings. Marcoleta did not respond further after the correction was made.
