The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will hold a nationwide voter registration in August amid no law postponing the December barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE).
Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the seven-member commission agreed to resume registration, but new voters from Bangsamoro will not be allowed to join the October parliamentary polls.
The registration aims to enable more voters, especially those aged 15 to 17, to participate in the youth council elections.
Voter registration was previously suspended in July due to uncertainty over the BSKE schedule.
Additionally, the deadline for submitting candidate photos for the Bangsamoro parliamentary polls has been extended to July 15, with ballots to feature candidates’ pictures and party logos.
