The Sandiganbayan has denied former senator Bong Revilla’s motion to transfer to Philippine National Police (PNP) custody, ruling that detention under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is appropriate for time computation and legal purposes.
The court also rejected motions challenging its jurisdiction, the validity of arrest warrants, and attempts to consolidate the malversation case with another graft case.
Revilla’s plea to remand the case to the Ombudsman for reinvestigation was denied, with the court noting that such a move could prejudice the accused.
Attempts to quash his arrest warrant and the criminal information were also struck down, with the court affirming probable cause and sufficient allegations of malversation and conspiracy.
Revilla is detained in connection with an alleged P92.8-million non-existent flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, and surrendered to authorities on January 19.
