The Department of Justice has filed a cyber-libel case against Michael Maurillo, a former Senate witness who claimed that Senator Risa Hontiveros coerced him to testify against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and the Duterte family.
The case was submitted last month to the Pasay City Regional Trial Court, Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon said.
Maurillo previously appeared in a viral video making the allegations against Hontiveros.
The DOJ reviewed the matter and recommended his indictment for cyber libel.
This marks the latest legal development in the controversy surrounding the Senate investigation into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
