LACSON QUESTIONS EDSA REHAB AMID NEW POTHOLES

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has sought a Senate probe into the rehabilitation of EDSA after potholes emerged on newly repaired sections following recent monsoon rains.

Senate Resolution No. 594 directs the Senate Public Works Committee to review the DPWH’s rehabilitation projects and engineering standards.

Lacson said the rapid deterioration raises concerns about the planning, design, construction, and management of costly infrastructure projects.

He also cited drainage problems as a possible factor in the road damage and noted that contractors may be required to repair defects under the New Government Procurement Act.

Lacson said the probe should help ensure better standards and specifications for future public works projects.
