Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano reaffirmed his commitment to the rehabilitation and reintegration of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) during a visit to Taguig City Jail on Oct. 31.
As part of his annual birthday outreach, he distributed food and hygiene supplies to thousands of inmates and encouraged them to pursue positive change.
Cayetano urged the inmates not to let past mistakes discourage them from rebuilding their lives, stressing the importance of determination and perseverance.
His call comes as the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) strengthens programs that prepare inmates for their return to their families and communities.
These initiatives include education, livelihood projects, skills training, health services, religious activities, behavioral management, and aftercare support such as employment and medical assistance.
