Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez is expected to file a petition for bail before the Sandiganbayan over plunder, malversation, and graft charges linked to alleged P7.4 billion kickbacks from flood control projects.
The Sandiganbayan’s Third Division said Romualdez’s camp manifested its intent to seek bail on September 28, 2026.
Bail hearings are scheduled from October 12 to November 12, with prosecutors set to present 23 witnesses and the defense expected to call three to four witnesses.
The court said Romualdez must attend the initial bail hearing and sign the pre-trial order, while the trial proper is set to begin on November 23.
Romualdez has pleaded not guilty to plunder, while his co-defendants include household staffer Joselyn Serenio, former congressman Zaldy Co, and foreign exchange executive Felicito Guevarra.
