MARK VILLAR URGES PASSAGE OF LIGTAS ACT AFTER SCHOOL STABBING

Sen. Mark Villar called for stronger school security measures following the fatal stabbing of a Grade 9 student at Las Piñas National High School, saying schools must remain safe places for learning.

He urged authorities to thoroughly investigate the incident, hold those responsible accountable, and implement measures to prevent similar cases.

Villar said the tragedy highlights the need to pass his proposed Learning Institution’s Guaranteed Threat Avoidance and Safety (LIGTAS) Act.

The bill seeks to enhance campus safety through increased police presence, emergency response systems, CCTV cameras, security screening, and regular safety training.

Villar also expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and pledged assistance during this difficult time.
