The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said the new Quezon City Jail in Barangay Payatas is ready to accommodate Sen. Rodante Marcoleta once he is transferred from police custody.
Marcoleta remains confined at the Philippine National Police General Hospital while awaiting an independent medical examination ordered by the Sandiganbayan.
BJMP spokesperson Supt. Jayrex Bustinera said the facility has space for up to 4,000 persons deprived of liberty and is equipped with medical services for vulnerable detainees.
He also stressed that Marcoleta will not receive special treatment despite being a high-profile detainee.
The BJMP said the jail’s modern design aims to provide humane detention conditions for all inmates.
