Bohol Third District Rep. Kristine Alexie Besas-Tutor is urging Congress to continue deliberations on priority measures during the special session, including the proposed Chocolate Hills Geological Monument Act.
She said House Bill No. 831, which seeks to update the legal framework for the Chocolate Hills Natural Monument, can still be tackled during the congressional recess as committee work and technical drafting have already been completed.
Besas-Tutor noted that the measure aims to balance environmental protection with land rights, livelihoods, and local development concerns in Bohol.
She said the bill is supported by all three Bohol representatives and has long been awaited by affected communities.
The lawmaker also called on the Department of Budget and Management to ensure funding for the measure’s implementation once enacted.
