Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano led the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Environmental Management Bureau–National Capital Region and SM Supermalls on May 15 for the rehabilitation of the Libertad Channel under the Adopt-an-Estero/Waterbody Program.
The agreement covers the restoration and maintenance of a one-kilometer stretch of the Libertad Channel to strengthen environmental protection and improve waterways in the city.
Rubiano said the partnership highlights the importance of collaboration between government agencies and private institutions in creating lasting and visible impact in communities.
The city government said the project is expected to help maintain the cleanliness of the estero, improve water flow, and reduce flooding risks in nearby communities, especially during the rainy season.
Rubiano also expressed gratitude to the Environmental Management Bureau-NCR and SM Supermalls for supporting Pasay City’s environmental and community welfare programs.
