HEAVY RAINS FORCE MPBL, PINOYLIGA TO POSTPONE GAMES

Heavy rains and flooding in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna and nearby areas forced the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League to postpone its Monday tripleheader and Pinoyliga to reschedule three of its four scheduled games.

The MPBL canceled its entire card at the Malolos Convention Center, affecting games involving Bulacan, Meycauayan Marilao, GenSan, Cebu, Zamboanga and Manila.

Pinoyliga also postponed games involving several schools, while only the Bestlink-University of Makati matchup pushed through after its start time was moved.

University of Makati advanced to the Sweet 16 after RJ Erum hit a buzzer-beating shot for a 75-73 victory over Bestlink.

Heavy flooding also disrupted national team training at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, with organizers monitoring conditions as habagat rains continue.
