Education Secretary Sonny Angara inspected public schools in the Negros Island Region on Thursday to assess campus safety and facility conditions.
He visited Bais City National High School and Basay Central School and met with students, teachers, and school officials to discuss security and psychosocial concerns.
Angara stressed that physical security must be paired with mental health support to ensure safe learning environments.
DepEd is proposing additional funding for security personnel, infrastructure, and school counselor associates in its 2027 budget.
The department also urged the public and media to avoid spreading unverified information and sensitive content about campus violence.
