The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 1 (BFAR-1) distributed bangus and siganid fry, along with fishing equipment, to the Samahan ng Magbabangus ng Pangasinan (SAMAPA) during the group’s second anniversary celebration on June 6.
The assistance included 80,000 bangus fry and 1,000 siganid fry from BFAR’s hatchery in Alaminos City, as well as previously raised fingerlings that were turned over to members of the association.
BFAR also provided additional equipment such as marine engines, tubs, and cooler boxes to support fish farming operations.
A beneficiary said the aid will help farmers recover from weather-related losses and fish kills caused by sudden climate changes.
BFAR Region 1 said it will continue supporting local fisherfolk to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods in Pangasinan.
