The provincial government of Zamboanga del Sur has secured P345 million worth of farm-to-market (FMR) road projects from the Department of Agriculture under the 2026 General Appropriations Act, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and rural economic growth.
Governor Divina Grace Yu described the initiative as a “game-changer,” saying it will improve farm-to-market access, lower transport costs, and strengthen rural communities.
A memorandum of agreement for the projects was signed between the provincial government and DA-Region 9, marking the first DA-LGU partnership funded under the national budget this year.
The program will cover 22 road projects across multiple towns and cities in the province, supporting major crops such as rice, corn, coconut, cacao, and coffee.
Officials said the improved infrastructure is expected to speed up product delivery, expand market access, and further stimulate the province’s agricultural economy.
