The first-ever Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections on Sept. 14 will proceed as scheduled, with the Commission on Elections continuing full-scale preparations alongside security forces and other government agencies.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia said there is no legal basis to postpone the polls, noting the absence of a Supreme Court restraining order or a new law delaying the elections.
While Congress is still considering related legislative proposals, the poll body said preparations will continue uninterrupted.
The elections are considered a major milestone in implementing the Bangsamoro Organic Law and transitioning the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao to full self-governance.
Authorities are also intensifying security, logistics, and voter readiness efforts to ensure peaceful and credible elections.
