The House prosecution panel thanked the Senate impeachment court for completing the pretrial proceedings in the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte despite the thousands of documentary exhibits involved.
The five-day pretrial conference ended with the marking of evidence and submission of stipulations ahead of the trial proper on July 6.
Lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro said the prosecution considers the pretrial a success, citing the court’s assistance in handling voluminous documents related to alleged unexplained wealth and confidential funds.
Prosecutors also claimed the defense prolonged the process by requiring separate markings for identical documents, resulting in more than 8,000 marked exhibits.
The panel is now awaiting the Senate impeachment court’s pretrial order and a ruling on its request to open a sealed Bureau of Internal Revenue box containing records tied to the case.
