Antonio Trillanes IV has filed libel and cyberlibel complaints against Alan Peter Cayetano, Rodante Marcoleta, and 18 former soldiers over allegations that he delivered cash to investigators of the International Criminal Court.
Trillanes described the claims made during the disputed June 4 Blue Ribbon hearing as fabricated and intended to damage his reputation.
He argued that the hearing was not an official Senate proceeding and therefore was not protected by legislative privilege.
The former senator also cited inconsistencies in the respondents’ statements regarding the alleged cash deliveries.
Several other government officials have likewise filed libel-related complaints against the same group over similar allegations.
