Anti-corruption groups staged protest marches in Makati and Quezon City on Sunday, calling for accountability over the alleged multibillion-peso flood control scandal and urging the Senate to proceed with the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
The rallies, led by the August Twenty-One Movement (ATOM), Tindig Pilipinas, and other civil society and church groups, drew thousands of participants advocating justice and an end to corruption.
Organizers said the movement is non-partisan and seeks to hold all officials implicated in corruption accountable, regardless of political affiliation.
They also expressed concern over the uncertain outcome of Duterte’s impeachment trial in the Senate.
Police reported that the demonstrations concluded peacefully without any untoward incidents.
