National Security Adviser Eduardo Año vowed to take legal action against those behind allegations that he received P805 billion in a meeting with fugitive ex-lawmaker Zaldy Co and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
The claims, made by 18 alleged former Marines, also implicated President Marcos and were linked to former Marine Orly Guteza, who went into hiding after implicating Romualdez in a Senate hearing.
Año denied ever attending any meeting with Romualdez, Co, or Rep. Leila De Lima, calling the allegations “entirely false and fabricated.”
The military clarified that several of the accusers were never Marines or were dishonorably discharged, while Malacañang dismissed the claims as a distraction from ongoing ICC hearings.
Año’s legal team is investigating whether the press conference is part of a broader effort to undermine government institutions, urging the public not to be swayed by misinformation.
