Malacañang said preparations for the Philippines’ hosting of the ASEAN Leaders’ Summit on May 7–8 are on track and “all systems go,” according to the Malacañang Palace.
Officials confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has been briefed on the preparations and that the summit will proceed as scheduled despite regional challenges.
Some meetings may be adjusted or held virtually due to austerity measures, but no final decision has been made.
The government also said the summit will focus on key issues such as energy, food supply, and migrant workers.
Malacañang added that domestic political issues will not affect the country’s hosting of the regional event.
