The Commission on Elections (Comelec) announced it will begin early preparations for the 2028 elections, following the same timeline used for the 2025 polls.
Spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said preparations will include a vendor’s fair to explore new election technologies from around the world.
The Comelec is also studying upgrades to the voter registration process, including facial recognition, iris scanning, and ten-finger fingerprinting.
These measures aim to clean the voters’ list and prevent fraudulent voting, such as “flying voters” or votes cast for deceased individuals.
Laudiangco emphasized that by 2028, the voters’ list will be accurate, complete with photos, leaving no room for impostors or election cheats.
